Above is a link to a youtube video that I watch. Currently I am mentoring a junior coach within the club. I was looking at ways to give feedback without sounding critical and putting them down. I like the idea of asking open ended questions to provoke the coach to come up with ideas to resolve problems themself. I feel this has explained how to communicate with the mentoree better than the mentoring course I took at the start of the year.

Just an observation...
After thinking about some of the topics and discussions brought up in class i have realised in the sport of gymnastics at the club level, I as a coach of female athletes, have noticed that i do less technical coaching and more reassurance about being safe when performing skills. This mainly happens during the cognitive stage of learning. I have found that the athletes don't respond to the technical feedback when there is an element of fear in performing a skill.

Interesting presentation
Click here to see an interesting presentation on "what is coaching?"
The main point I liked in it was that coaches don't talk as much as teachers or trainers.

This blog
This blog is for the Unit Sports Coaching Pedagogy that I am currently doing at the University of Canberra. I will post a wide range of information either directly related to the unit, or about coaching in general. I will also try to upload some videos that I have used in the past to help me with my own coaching.
